Maddie attended Texas Tech University and graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Interior Design and a Minor in Architecture. Upon graduating, she worked under interior designer and owner of Biscuit Home, Bailey McCarthy, in Houston, Texas as her Design Assistant. This experience taught Maddie all about mixing textiles, color and decor. In 2014, Maddie established her own interior design firm after relocating to Dallas from Houston. She has since grown her clientele and portfolio to showcase her unique sense of style using a mix of modern and traditional elements, while also placing the utmost importance on function, comfort and her clients' personal aesthetic.

Alex Lutz joined Maddie Hughes Designs in June 2017 after leaving her career in corporate banking to pursue her creative passion for interior design and be able to spend more time at home with her daughter. Since starting at Maddie Hughes Designs, Alex's position has evolved over time to her current role as Maddie's Design Partner. Alex uses her business expertise to benefit the day-to-day operations of the firm, and to help clients execute their vision while remaining within budget. When it comes to the design process, Alex enhances Maddie's big-picture thinking with her detail-oriented nature to refine and customize the overall design plan for a project.
